Isn't it about time?

Well, I haven't updated my blog in the past couple of weeks due to only one thing....NO TIME! That's it. Short & Simple and of coarse I only had internet in my office. Because of this and the amount of time I spend daily in the office, it ain't too cool to go the office on weekends just for an update, right?

OK. There was a couple of changes the last couple of weeks since my last update. The first is that our new boss arrived almost 1.5 months ago and he has taken over officially from Dirk about 2 weeks ago. So now, Dirk is once again a FREE man and I guess it was great working with him the last couple years and now it is really coming to an end. His wife made a comment a while ago about us arguing so much, but yet we work together so good! Wow, what to you expect from 2 Tauruses working in one office. Yeah right, a recipe for major fucking disaster, but at the end it work pretty while and we both are really professionally and keep social life apart from our professional life.

Dirk sold all his furniture already for his fresh start in Down Under and starting the first week in December. Will see if moving to Down Under was a good one, but at least they are extremely confident and happy and to say the least....Only do that, that could make you happy. Take the chance and risk......For all we know it definately could be that best choice ever.....

Yeah, so with Dirk's departure I moved up on the food chain. Taking over technically all 3 sites in Tanzania and do not really know at this point if it was a good decision, but time will tell. All that I can say is that I'm really working my ass off. To crown this I got a new appartment in DAR as part of the package of promotion/demotion. (time will tell)....and yeah, I got myself a decoder that can record DSTV and ASDL at home. It is so fucking awesome imagining ASDL in Africa....OK, i know Mauritius had it, but Mauritius are definately 2 steps above Taz. Dirk & the family moved in with me for their final stretch to mid November when it is ALL OVER and good bye to my good friends.

I promised the Lourenses that I will come and visit as soon as I'm finsihed here and that could be Sept/Oct '07. What a fucking long way to go. But I will only come if there is something organised for me socially in Oz.....You get what I'm saying? A bit of jigi jigi with the "small house"....OK, it is the direct translation from Swahili for a bit of fun....Rrrrrrrrr

So my plans as far as it goes now. Oz around Sept/Oct '07 and the trying to get to US of A for a couple of weeks. Saying HOWZIT to all of you Yanks down there! So, this is what was happening during my ONLINE absence and hope it will go smoothly from here.

Ciao y'all

What the fuck do I need to say further?

*Questions about South Africa were posted on a South African Tourism Website and were answered by the website owner. For you weird foreigners, this is a special tribune just for you!

* Q: Does it ever get windy in South Africa ? I have never seen it rain on TV, so how do the plants grow? (UK )
A: We import all plants fully grown and then just sit around watching them die.

Q: Will I be able to see elephants in the street? (USA )
A: Depends how much you've been drinking or sniffing.

Q: I want to walk from Durban to Cape Town - can I follow the railroad tracks? (Sweden)
A: Sure, it's only two thousand kilometres. Take lots of water.

Q: Is it safe to run around in the bushes in South Africa? ( Sweden)
A: So it's true what they say about Swedes.

Q: Are there any ATMs (cash machines) in South Africa? Can you send me a list of them in JHB, Cape Town, Knysna and Jeffrey's Bay? (UK )
A: What did your last slave die of?

Q: Can you give me some information about Koala Bear racing in South Africa? (USA )
A: Aus-tra-lia is that big island in the middle of the Pacific. A-fri-ca is the big triangle shaped continent south of Europe which does not... oh forget it. Sure, the Koala Bear racing is every Tuesday night in Hillbrow. Come naked.

Q: Which direction is north in South Africa? (USA )
A: Face south and then turn 90 degrees. Contact us when you get there and we'll send the rest of the directions.

Q: Can I bring cutlery into South Africa? (UK )
A: Why? Just use your fingers like we do.

Q: Can you send me the Vienna Boys' Choir schedule? (USA )
A: Aus-tri-a is that quaint little country bordering Ger-man-y, which is. Oh forget it. Sure, the Vienna Boys Choir plays every Tuesday night in Hillbrow, straight after the Koala Bear races. Come naked.

Q: Do you have perfume in South Africa? ( France)
A: No, WE don't stink.

Q: I have developed a new product that is the fountain of youth. Can you tell me where I can sell it in South Africa? ( USA)
A: Any where significant numbers of Americans gather.

Q: Can you tell me the regions in South Africa where the female population is smaller than the male population? ( Italy)
A: Yes, gay nightclubs.

Q: Do you celebrate Christmas in South Africa ? (France )
A: Only at Christmas.

Q: Are there killer bees in South Africa? ( Germany)
A: Not yet, but for you, we'll import them.

Q: Are there supermarkets in Cape Town and is milk available all year round? ( Germany)
A: No, we are a peaceful civilisation of vegan hunter-gatherers. Milk is illegal.

Q: Please send a list of all doctors in South Africa who can dispense rattlesnake serum. ( USA)
A: Rattlesnakes live in A-meri-ca, which is where YOU come from. All South African snakes are perfectly harmless, can be safely handled and make good pets. Good examples of snakes as pets are mambas (both green and black), rinkhals and municipal workers.

Q: I was in South Africa in 1969, and I want to contact the girl I dated while I was staying in Hillbrow. Can you help? ( USA)
A: Yes, and you will still have to pay her by the hour.

Q: Will I be able to speek English most places I go? ( USA)
A: Yes, but you'll have to learn it first

One year on and still.......

Fuck bru, time is really flying. It is the 10th month of 2006 already and I have been here already one complete year. I never would have imagine that I could have stayed here for a complete year and then another 10 months is on its way to completion date or is it maybe in 2008, 2009, 2010.....please not. Then I can actually start applying for dual citizneship. At least Bandara will leave here after me, I will make sure of that..... Sorry my Sri Lankan friend, but from now on I will be the boss.........

Anyway, it was a year filled with some incredible memories that I will cherish forever and with some KAK moments which I already have forgotten, except when I look at my scars. That is what make the expatriate life style so great. You go to all the places that are different from what you know and somehow you learn to survive with the differences in cultures, food, environment and especially with temperatures. Somehow this is really an absolutely KAK place (Dirk and Rieta believes me), but it was in more then one way extremely great and is still great. I mean, in 6 weeks I will go diving with my Project Manager on Mafia island which is truly still deserted in so many ways with untouched beauty that africa and the tropical ocean supplies us with. We will dive for one thing only and that is to see the whale sharks......Just imagine!

I planned to go in December to Mauritus with a friend of mine, but as my luck has it that she couldn't get off in December and our people in France actually decided it was time for work and sent containers full of equipment just before Christmas.....What in the world were they thinking? And then there is the issue of just returning from leave. It is actually called sick leave and that ain't a luctury leave dedicated to special people....Only to stupid enough people who didn't learn that by driving on a PIKI PIKI in Tanzania ain't cool, but fucking stupid. They say that people only learn from pain. Believe me, I have learned from it now. Don't drive at midnight on your bike, only during the day!

But yeah, it was an absolutely great year and I'm looking forward to the next one. Time is running out for my great friends Dirk & Rieta. I think they are happy about it. Most of their furniture is sold and we have just a TV to look at. OH, and tomorrow night I am baby sitting my bru, Dylan, and we will have loads of Heinekins or "Geinekin" (G in afrikaans and "CH" in German and "J" in Spanish) and play playstation the whole night. Maybe I think it is an great idea to invite some strippers to entertain us for the evening......Dylan, if it depends on me I think 6 years are old enough to enjoy a REAL party....You know what I'm saying bru?

Anyhow, I think it was great right somethin down for all you folks out there for a change. It is not that I'm lazy because I didn't wrote, it is just that I'm overworked.......Yeah right, more fun!

Have fun people!

Ciao

PS: And that is a photo taken this morning to prove that I'm free of the big WHITE POP devil.
